DHA offers FREE spay/neuter day for cats and dogs on February 28th
Posted on February 5, 2013
February is Spay/Neuter Awareness Month, featuring World Spay Day which falls on February 26th. Delaware
Humane Association is celebrating this vital mission by holding a FREE
spay/neuter surgery day for cats and dogs on February 28th to aid pet owners
who are having financial difficulties.
This special opportunity is the second of two free
surgery days funded by proceeds from the SPAY AWAY Costume Ball, which was held
on October 12, 2012 in Arden, DE. The first was held in January 2013 and the schedule filled
up fast, so pet owners who wish to take advantage of DHA’s remaining free
surgery day are urged to act now to reserve a spot by calling (888)
DHA-SPAY or (302) 571-0111.
The goal of the SPAY AWAY Costume Ball was to raise
spay/neuter or emergency medical funding for three local animal welfare
organizations (Delaware Humane Association, Forgotten Cats, and Response-a-Bull
Rescue), in an effort to help reduce pet overpopulation in our community. The
event raised nearly $12,000, resulting in a donation of more than $4,000 to
support DHA’s Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program.
