DHA would like to thank all of our sponsors, vendors, staff, volunteers, and especially all of our walkers and their animals for joining us last week for Tails Around the Tower, our 24th Annual Walk for the Animals!

Senior dog Stefano finds forever home after over 3 years at DHA!
The day has finally come -- our long-term resident Stefano is now our newest DHA alumni! Our special boy spent over three years waiting for his forever home to come along, and now he gets to spend his golden years in a loving home. It's moments like this that remind us why we do what we do and to never give up.

Employment opportunities available at DHA for Veterinary Technicians
DHA is currently accepting applications for a part-time and a full-time Veterinary Technician. You're invited to our family reunion!
We always look forward to seeing familiar faces at DHA's Walk for the Animals, as well as having the opportunity to make new friends. And whether you have adopted a cat or dog from us, made a donation, volunteered, or helped spread the word about DHA's mission, we like to think of you all as not only our "friends for life" but a part of our family. We hope you and your family, including your dogs, will come to our "family reunion" and make some great memories with us!

Why I Walk for the Animals, by Melissa Deutsch
This is the first year I will be walking at Tails Around the Tower, DHA's annual Walk for the Animals, but it certainly will not be the last. I moved to Wilmington, DE for my job, and the DHA has simply been one of the best things that has happened to me since moving here.

A Penny 4 Your Thoughts
DHA is truly appreciative of every penny we receive, but we need 130,000,000 pennies, or $1.3M, annually. Did you know that based on actual costs along with staff time, from intake through the first two weeks of stay, it costs an average of $230 per dog and $218 per cat?

Last Call for Hard Hat Tours
We are thrilled that so many of our supporters have been able to take a hard hat tour through the new facility! For the month of October, DHA's Executive Director Patrick Carroll and Director of Development & Major Gifts Greg Munson will be doing final "Hard Hat Tours" every Thursday at 5:30 pm.

Don't just take your dog for a walk... Take your Walk for a Dog
Raise money for shelter animals and your heart rate while you walk your dog just by using an app on your smartphone called Wooftrax! Every time you take your dog for a walk, just hit "Start Walking" and you're on your way to raise money to help animals who are waiting for forever homes.
