Guardian Angel Program

There are plenty of angels, right here on Earth.

You can be one of them by becoming a DHA Guardian Angel, providing financial support to a dog or cat in the shelter. Sponsorship is especially needed for our longer-term residents with medical or behavioral issues, or other factors that make them "less adoptable".

$15 will provide for the care and sheltering
of a cat or kitten for 1 month

$25 will provide for the care and sheltering
of a dog or puppy for 1 month

We ask our Guardian Angels to make a minimum three month commitment. You can continue for as long as you want.

Each Guardian Angel will receive a thank you letter and a photo of the DHA dog or cat you are helping. Guardian Angels who become longer-term sponsors will receive updates on their DHA pet twice a year.

How to become a Guardian Angel

There are three ways to make your donation and become a DHA Guardian Angel:

1. Pay with a credit card
   
   One Time Donations: Make a one time credit card payment using our online donation form or by phone by contacting Administrative Assistant Sandy Leigh at sleigh@dehumane.org at (302) 571-8171, ext. 307.
   
   Recurring Donations: Sign up for a recurring monthly or quarterly credit card payment using our online donation form. The authority you give to charge your account will remain in effect until you notify DHA in writing or terminate the authorization.
   
   
   
   
   
2. Automatic checking or savings account deductions
   
   Automatic bank account deductions are a dependable, flexible, convenient, and easy way to make a recurring donation:
   
   
   • It saves time—fewer checks to write and mail.
   • Making a donation will be convenient and time-friendly—even if you’re on vacation or out of town.
   • It saves postage—many people spend close to $100 per year on postage.
   • It’s easy to sign up for, easy to cancel.
   
   You won’t have to change your present banking relationship to take advantage of this service, just authorize regularly scheduled donations to be made from your checking or savings account. Then, just sit back and relax. Your donation will be made automatically on the specified day. Proof of your donation will appear on your statement. The authority you give to charge your account will remain in effect until you notify DHA in writing or terminate the authorization. To take advantage of this service, print and complete the authorization form.

3. Pay by check
   
   Mail in or drop off a check as a onetime or recurring donation to the address above. You can send in a check as many times as you want to support the Guardian Angel program.
