Planned Giving
Preplanning the care of your pets will give you peace of mind, ease the stress on your family, and ensure that the needs of all those closest to you are met.
Many of us have experienced the painful loss of someone close to us and the complicated task of making sure that all of the belongings cherished by our loved one are properly taken care of. Most people have the foresight to designate in their will the heirs of their assets and tangible possessions, but often they don’t think to make provisions for their pet. This can create difficulties as family members try to determine who will be responsible for the faithful companion left behind.
Preplanning for the care of our pets can help eliminate unnecessary stress for our families at a highly emotional time, and will also make our wishes clear and more likely to be followed.
As animal guardians we should all think about planning for the lifelong care of our pets. Since laws affecting funds established for the perpetual care of family pets have changed in recent years, it’s important to seek expert legal counsel to ensure that your wishes and your pet’s needs are both met.
Please feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss the various ways that DHA can assist you in providing for your companion animals. Together we can determine what would be in the best interest of your devoted, four-footed friends.
